Right ventricular kinetic energy: 4D flow MRI analysis of healthy volunteers and repaired Tetralogy of Fallot
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Repaired Tetralogy of Fallot (rTOF) is currently monitored with Cardiovascular MR (CMR) to measure right ventricle (RV) volumes and function. However, these indices do not always reflect performance status or predict success following repair of pulmonary insufficiency. RV kinetic energy (KERV) may provide a more robust measure of RV efficiency than RV end diastolic volume (EDV) index and function. The aim of this study was to demonstrate the feasibility of calculating KERV with 4D Flow MRI and assess differences between rTOF and healthy volunteers.

Right ventricular Hemodynamic Alteration after Pulmonary Valve Replacement in Children with Congenital Heart Disease
Introduction: In patients who underwent surgery to repair Tetralogy of Fallot, right ventricular dilation from pulmonary regurgitation may be result in right ventricular failure, arrhythmias and cardiac arrest. Hence, pulmonary valve replacement may be necessary to reduce right ventricular volume overload. The aim of present study was to assess the effects of pulmonary valve replacement on rig...
متن کاملAnalysis of right heart flow patterns in repaired Tetralogy of Fallot with 4D flow-sensitive MRI
Introduction Cardiac MRI (CMR) is used to follow patients after TOF repair to assess pulmonary regurgitation (PR), pulmonary stenosis (PS) and right ventricular (RV) function. 4D flow-sensitive MRI techniques enable visualization of complex flow patterns [1],[2]. With the ability to simultaneously acquire morphology and hemodynamics for visualization and quantification, they may improve evaluat...
متن کامل4D cardiovascular magnetic resonance velocity mapping of alterations of right heart flow patterns and main pulmonary artery hemodynamics in tetralogy of Fallot
BACKGROUND To assess changes in right heart flow and pulmonary artery hemodynamics in patients with repaired Tetralogy of Fallot (rTOF) we used whole heart, four dimensional (4D) velocity mapping (VM) cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR). METHODS CMR studies were performed in 11 subjects with rTOF (5M/6F; 20.1 ± 12.4 years) and 10 normal volunteers (6M/4F; 34.2 ± 13.4 years) on clinical 1....
متن کاملبررسی عملکرد بطنها با اکوکاردیوگرافی در نارسایی دریچه ریوی پس از جراحی تترالوژی فالوت
Background: Tetralogy of Fallot is the most common cyanotic congenital heart disease. The systolic and diastolic function in both ventricles is altered even after successful corrective surgery for this defect with a transannular patch. Pulmonary regurgitation, a common complication after this treatment, is usually well tolerated in childhood. The aim of this study was to assess the combined dia...
متن کاملRight ventricular remodeling due to pulmonary regurgitation is associated with reduced left ventricular free wall strain in surgically repaired tetralogy of fallot.
BACKGROUND The aim of the present study was to assess the impact of pulmonary regurgitation (PR) and right ventricle (RV) volume on left ventricle (LV) longitudinal strain (LS) in patients with surgically repaired tetralogy of Fallot (r-TOF). METHODS AND RESULTS The study subjects were 32 adolescent asymptomatic r-TOF subjects and 30 adolescent healthy controls. Two-dimensional (2-D) and 3-di...
